So we are back in Keygan's shop, and out of healing for the day. It is around 4:00 in the afternoon. My thoughts are that we should do the following:
1) Return tot he church of St. Cuthbert and let them know what we have found, and see if they can offer us any further assistance. Perhaps Ruphus could come with us to provide some more healing, or maybe they have some potions of cure light wounds that they could give us, or sell at a discount.
2) Purchase some more supplies so that we are better prepared for traveling deeper into the dungeon. A Ladder and ten foot pole could come in handy, and possibly a portable ram for getting through those locked doors. We should also come up with a list of any other supplies and pool our money together to get what we need. I'm not sure how much potions of cure light wounds cost, but we should try and get a couple of those too, so that we can continue exploring for longer and find the kidnap victims as quickly as possible.
3) make sure we leave someone to guard the secret door in Keygan's shop so that none of the creatures come out through there again.
I don't think we should say anything to the guards yet, since we don't have any hard evidence, and their involvement could hinder our ability to get to the route of the problem. Once we have rescued the kidnap victims, we can update the guards on the situation.
And thank you again for pulling me out of that pit trap. I will make sure to proceed more cautiously in the future.

Sounds perfect fearless leader. We definitely need to get some supplies. Are rams really necessary though? I mean, the lettered doors seem pretty sturdy, are trapped, and obviously have keys. Hitting them with a ram would probably set off the trap better than I could. Rather than buying that, I say that I either spend most of the night knotting my rope (can that be done?) or we should buy 100ft of knotted rope to make climbing easier. The ladder could help us cross sections of sprung floor traps. I don't know about the pole though, never had to use one in actual gaming. Maybe I could use it to whack against the floor and walls in an attempt to trigger traps. I think one or two more crowbars could be necessary. I think we handled the whole situation fine, save for needing more healing. We should definitely head over to the church and see if Rufus is willing to help us. Informing him that we've made such amazing progress into getting to the bottom of this case could be enough to persuade him to help more. Besides, we helped him out of a tough situation, the least he could do is return the favour. Someone, or ones, should stay behind to hold down the fort. I wouldn't volunteer for such a thing, especially because of my weakened state. But I would help with some rudimentary barrier creating. Oh, and since Keygan isn't around, I can't promise that I won't take something of value. Hey, Keygan did say that his business was the only thing he really had to give in return for our aid. I figured he meant, "take what you like". Terolias likes talking, so he'd like to be involved in any bartering/deal making that goes on, as long as he can get a good night's sleep. Seeing how we've paid for the inn for the week, I'll be heading there to sleep in a comfortable bed. Can someone lend me 5sp for dinner? Oh, I have two gold to lend towards supply acquisitions. Anyone, or any gnome, have anything to supply?

You're right, the portable ram would probably cause more harm than good. Maybe Keygan has some tools or even a key that might work in the locked doors. I'd feel more comfortable if we asked him first, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind us borrowing something that would help in the recovery of Starbrow. We should leave a note though, and make sure to return it when we are finished.
I envision the pole being useful in testing the floor ahead of us, or probing entrances (that's what I do with my 10 foot pole). That is a good idea to knot the rope. It shouldn't take too long to do, and it could save us later if one of us needs to climb quickly out of danger.
I can stay behind to guard the door. If one other spends the night here, we should be able to make sure nothing comes out and both of us get enough rest. Having Drezek or Krintanus with you at the church might help.
So our shopping list looks something like this: Ladder 10 foot pole Crowbar x 2 Healing potions
I don't know if we can afford any potions, but we should try and purchase some additional healing implements. We should probably get some more oil for the lantern too. We could be down there for quite a while, and it is hard enough finding our way around when we can see.
